Avoided - song "Whiskey Me"

the Avoided
Milwaukee WI - '9x?-'20xx?

This band were friends of mine and frequently played at my punkhouse (the outhouse). Sadly the singer Reed died, and even more depressing is the reflection of the times... i was always too drunk and i can't even remember what fucking year it was or how long it's been!!! Either way, Avoided crossed a few boundaries and had a varied fanbase among streetpunk, hardcore, crust and even some metal types. They may have not had the image (cuz they didn't give a flying fuck), and although they had their own sound and were different than all of the cookie cutter bands of the time, they were still heavily "american streetpunk" sounding. They also fucking ruled live, and Reeds cock and maybe some blood were usually in order.  I hope to get their discography thrown up on youtube, but for now here is one of their crowd favorites - "Whiskey Me". RIP brother.

Strap-Onz - song "Fuck Squatter Sympathy"

Strap-Onz
Austin TX - '99?-'03/04

The Strap-Onz from Austin TX (not to be confused with the Strap-Ons from VA)... This song, also the title of their only ep, "Fuck Suqatter Sympathy" got these guys in "trouble" with the dirtier (literally) side of punk. I can't remember right but i think (i think..) they basically had to apologize publicly, when the song was just basically fuck off rich kid oogles coming around pretending to be anarchists and rebels, playing poor/homeless and annoying the shit out of everyone in general.

Sometime around '03-'04 they turned into Complete Control.

Quincy Punx
Minneapolis MN - '90-'0x?

They got their name from the 80's tv show "Quincy", from the episode (like other shows back then) showing the terrifying prospect of youth turning into a nihilistic and violent Punk. We've all seen movie and tv punks... rich.

This may, or may not, be all the footage from one, or both, of the East Coast Pogo Attack video comps. Either way you can still buy them on overpriced tape, along with other lost gems like the "Punk Lives" videos and the Casualties, Unseen, Violent Society tour video "East Coast Attack" (not too original with these titles; see "Pogo Attack" comp.), right here: http://www.crustpunks.com/videos-c-46_49.html

Now all we need is Parapunx distro to come back so i can be sold an overpriced copy-machine video case artwork with a blank vhs of my favorite band.

Jesters of Chaos - song "Violent States of America"

Jesters of Chaos
Seattle - '88?-'9x?

a little premature on the timeline here, call it what you want, "proto-streetpunk" haha
I had a feeling, from their sound and region, that they had soemthing to do with the Bloodclots and/or Defiance. then i later read somewhere that there's a connection. I'll have to dig up that juicy must-know info so the 2 people who look at this can sleep at night.

Dysfunctional Youth - song "Shattered"

Dysfunctional Youth
NJ - '93ish-?

I used to know about these guys and their recorded output, but it's been washed away in a sea of cider, cheap beer and whiskey. They are featured on the first East Coast Pogo Atack video comp. I'm pretty sure i've heard 2 versions of this song alone...

Street Punk Chaos Punk Pogo Punk Drunk Punk Oi! Punk circa '90-'05ish... Documenting an entire chapter in punk history that many are now embarrassed of, but almost all were a part of.

this is just something to fuck around with when i find myself hating the world and bored. In the U.S., at least, there were "streetpunk" bands in almost every city/town with a enough of a population... this is to loosely collect as many of those bands as possible. For fun and nostalgia, even laughs (i mean c'mon, did you motherfuckers look in the mirror...), but also to share the good and forgotten bands that were probably not known very well outside of their areas. There's gonna be a lot of inaccurate info and things missing. Plus it's all youtube and myspace songs for now, maybe downloads in the future (go cry about it). It is roughly aimed at, but not limited to, "american" streetpunk. A lot of these bands will be pushing toward crust, oi, hardcore or just normal fucking punk rock, as long as its prettymuch 90's and has the right attitude or sound... This blog is not dedication, but something to do for fun out of boredom and music OCD. So feel free to contribute information, but fuck off with your snobbery and know-it-all attitudes, i could give a fuck less. Just stumble upon this when you're drunk and let the nostalgia flow like you dropped a full 40. -jesse
