Agrestix - random tracks

the Agrestix Quad Cities, Iowa - '06?-'11ish This band has always (to me) sounded, for the most part, too soft and poppy recorded - but were always fuckin great live! They are at the tail end of the scope of this "blog" but they played my house and milwaukee a few times and it was always enjoyable and we all had good times. One of em even lived at the Outhouse for stint. they sorta dissolved after the full length came out, but occasionally reformed for a gig.

im lazy and not putting in dates and info, heres some of the recordings i liked best.

Subversives - Rarities - Comp, Tracks & EPs

the Subverives
Minneapolis MN - '95?-'02/'03?

Hard to find tracks by Minneapolis' mid 90's to early 00's skunk band, the Subversives.
They were one of the best of the mid-late 90's American streetpunk bands, blending UK82 & streetpunk aggression with oi music, catchy melodies and huge choruses. Sometimes thought of as America's answer to Oxymoron, but totally unique in their own right.

"No Slow... All Go!" comp. 1995
1. Be A Subvert  0:00
2. I Don't Wanna Know  2:21

other recordings: "Protest & Dance" album, "From Here... To Nowhere" album & ...unreleased album....

Discocks - "Voice of Youth" ep & "Long Live Oi!" LP

the Discocks
japan - '9x?-'0x?

Everyone knows the Discocks - infectious, fun, high energy, oi-influenced pogo punk from Japan. You know how to click round on the internet, like you even need this post... but for the sad ones out there who never knew the joys of the Discocks or 90's japanese streetunk, you are in for a treat. If you don't like it then you're a soulless miserable fuck, and you don't appreciate butchered engrish oi funtime. They broke up i the early '00s and some members went on to form the Avoided (which is the name of a well established [in our region] Milwaukee hc-punk band at the time... we all got a little laugh out of that). Anyways, Discocks came back with the same name in the mid '00s, having turned into a uk82-esque/80s hc punk style outfit, which is a whole different ballgame...

"Voice of Youth" '94 ep - this ain't right but listen to it anyways

"Long Live Oi!" '97 LP - this and Oxymoron's material were some of the fucking BEST in this vein, from the 90's- stupid vocals/lyrics or not!

the Posers - "Worse Than Nothing" ep

the Posers
canadia - '97?-'99

this ep fetures an Effigies (chicago's first "skinhead band") cover, "Bodybag".

"Worse Than Nothing" '98 ep

Johnny & the Phux

Johnny 7 the Phux
Fon Du Lac/Oshkosh WI - '02?-'06?

Here was an interesting band from small town Wisconsin. They played a few shows at my house in Milwaukee in the first few years. They were from the little cities of Fon Du Lac and/or Oshkosh, or the general area, fronted by a weird cool greaser guy but with a total casualties type streepunk sound and the band not being overly fashionable or giving 2 shits about image in general, and mixing it up with weird original songs thrown in the mix like "I wanna See You Naked". A lot of time people didn't know what to make of them, which is why i liked them, and they were down to earth. That and Johnny always had this little vintage suitcase thing with good whiskey and some vintage shot glasses and cocktail mixing kit type deal inside of it, that he'd share with me, that definitely didn't hurt. They were around in a sort of no-man's land time period, or at least it seemed so around here, for the general style of punk they played.

"Welcome to America" from their self released CD ep

"I Wanna See You Naked" live

here's some other songs from their myspace:
"Burnout"

"We Don't Need You"

here's a distorted picture of Penatly Box giving Jayke Orvis (guitar) a tiny head.

by the end of the weekend i will have the Subversives post up. and i am putting this Penalty Box picture up here, cuz theyre next in line. they were a local milwaukee band and at least half of that band have lived with me and were/are good friends of mine. Hopefully i can find one of 2 lost copies of the Rogues demos and i know theres some Shwill Rotten recordings floating around the radio station i DJ at and other ones somewhere in the usa in some ex-punk ro skins old box of flyers and shit... after those, my work is done until i find something else cool.

also, i foudn my odl banner, why the fuck didnt i put that shit up earlier?! its RICH. oo bad its ut off.. anyways... alhough this "blog" is hangin onto life by a piece of floss, so maybe i will keep fuckin with it after i get the locals up here.... SEND ME SOMETHING GOOD.

the Intensives

the Intensives
Edmonton CAN - ?? - 08?

i am jsut being fuckign lazy. heres a newer band outta the scope of this blog, that aint so bad. they are more up the hair dye alley than a lot of the bands i have been posting.

here's one song, there's a bunch of live videos on youtube.
"Social Deviance" from '08 split ep with Panik Attak

the Profit$

the Chineapple Punx

Chineapple Punx
Wycombe? UK - '96?-98?
Best band name, period. here's a song from each of their 3 recordings. Theyre'll all muscially a little different from each other, and i like the fact that this band obviously doesn't give a shit.

Filth & Blatz

Filth & Bltz... you probably loved them or fucking hated them. This will balance out the last 2 posts haha

i was gonna put blatz on here but i changed my mind. cuz i fucking hate them

the Cuffs - various songs

the Cuffs
NJ - '96?-'02?

Another band fitting the proper English definition of streetpunk - punk dominated by oi sounds. They weren't afraid to play a fast tune either but they're more memorable for their melodic yet aggressive songs, and patriotic, skinhead style "politics".

a song reflective of some of the rifts in the 90's scene.
"Punk's not Dread"

"John L Sullivan"

Ciderfex - song "Wycombe" & live video / bitching

Ciderfex
Wycombe UK - '96? - '99?

ok so this band is definitely on the oi side. this is what british people mean when they say streetpunk, not like when americans say it and they picture the Casualties. I hate this blog almost as much as i hate the word blog. If you like this stuff (the other posts) then tell me about your local band growing up or where to find some recordings of some obscure (or better yet) or interesting 90's and real early 00's bands. Because if i have to wade through another youtube cesspool of Monster Squad worship and Casualties rip-off bands then i'm gonna cut my fuckin mohawk off and drink 40's to death in ritual suicide.

if you want something noisy Chaos UK style too, then grab their split with the other best named band, the Chineapple Punx - "Chunk and Disorderly".

Majority Rules - 90's demo

punx is lazy:
"Majority was formerly United Strike then became Majority Rules(Majority for short) then later became HighRise. Majority was a 90's Street Punk band from East Los Angeles Boyle Heights. In This Recording it is Serino Patino-vocals,Marcos Estrada-guitar,Manuel Mata drums And Santino Ortega on Bass and Fernie Estrada on back up vocals. this recording was recorded by Fernie Estrada and Gus from Teenage Rage"

Infected Youth / ranting

here's a newer band who are new school sounding but somehow don't piss me off as much as the other bands. I hate this blog cuz i ran out of little bands (without putting in too much effort to find new ones, or due to lack of recordings) and original sounding bands, plus i drank away most of my knowledge of this time period, and rarely listen to alot of these bands. I hate most "streetpunk" from the 2000s and alot of the 90's shit was fucking stupid - it was cliche as fuck but at the same time fun as hell! A bunch of drunk (mostly) teenagers having a fucking blast, burning off frustration, sometimes only copying each other and trying to be cool... but some even having something to say and sounded good doing it! Whatever, if soe people fill me in on some good older bands i will keep doing this. Asi find old demos etc i will throw them up here but i prettymuch don;t give shit. Dig around this site and do some work for yourself, there were bands in every shit town everywhere with plaid and hairspray giving it a shot. For now here's some band i randomly found while trying to listen to Attak's demo on youtube:

i do 2 other music "blogs" - one for UK82 and one for 80's British Oi. check em out if that's your thing.

Combat Shock - various songs

Combat Shock
Wibech UK - '94-'06

"British anarcho streetpunk band from Wibech, Cambs. CS formed in October 1994, played their first gig in December 1994 and disbanded in 2006."

A female fronted uk anarcho/streetpunk band. Not to be confused with the german band or these guys. I stumbled upon them because I liked the name, there's probably about 20 more with the same name. Here's 2 songs from youtube:

"I love my liver" - from their '98 cd "Wishful Drinking"

"Hardcore is dead" - from "The War Against Tony (t.w.a.t.)" ep - song bashing famous porn star who was known for degrading women to the extreme in his videos. This band would get along great with Haggis from norway.

im being lazy again. i forgot about this band. heard em about 3 years ago. total jap. pogo and streetpunk style for all you Discocks and Chernobyl Babies nerds.

click around on youtube and find their old myspace whilest i go have fun in real life instead of typing/copy and pasting code for 5 people in the world to look at this...

coming soon... Subversives + local rarities....

i have been busy but i am going to put up a Subversives "rarities" video on youtube/pot on here. It will be their demo, comp tracks and EPs - everything besides their 2 full lengths, and the mysterious "3rd album" (what?!.. yeah.). Stay tuned. also i have to find my recordings of locals the Rogues and Penalty Box - and hopefully dig up the 14-year-old live recording of locals Shwill Rotten playing live at the radio station where i work part time. expect those soonish

"subcultures guide to the galaxy - streetpunk" video

Subcultures guide to the galaxy with your host Herb Herbert.

 Ok i am being lazy

sure... what he said. i guess. watch this if you're bored as all fuck... personally i'd never trust a Herbert.

Onward To Mayhem - "Onward To Mayhem" lp

Onward To Mayhem
Minneapolis MN - '98?-'00?

I have brushed shoulders with some members of this band so I should probably just contact one of them. Either way, this is all we got besides their ep "Six Acts in the Art of Social Defiance" and apparently some hard to find tape. They delivered politically & socially conscious streetpunk with alot of fight club samples. I used to have this on cd and when i was 19 I gave it to a young punk - and gave my endless struggle cd to his other young punk friend. Now one's a reborn christian and one's a crusty/grindcore kid who also loves reggae and weed. I'm a salty, older alcoholic punk who likes more oi than most skinheads, who's writing a blog. You be the judge.

This is a youtube playlist of (most) of their self-titled '99 album. It will be completed in the (distant) future.

'99 "Onward To Mayhem" lp

the Bristles - "Pogo Til You Puke" ep

the Bristles
NJ - '93?-'99?

Another 7" I used to have, and a band that often gets overlooked (especially by me, cuz I always scoff and think "they're no Bristles from Sweden" - the 80s pseudo-uk82 swedish hardcore band - which is a completely fucking stupid  and unfair comparison. so listen to both. Also theres 'Bristle', and 'Bristles DC', and probably a ton of others that i won't give a fair shake.). This was the Bristles 2nd release, and it was on Milwaukee's own Beer City Records (still around... alotta material. gold mine of random 90's and early '00s music + then some). This band always seemed like they approx. 1 million records out, and as of just checking now it looks like i wasn't far off - 10 releases and too many comp. appearances - lot for a seemingly "forgotten" band. They had a good snotty NJ pogo thing goin on most of the time. Nice change of pace from a lot of the screechy Casualties/AGT/Unseen clones to come later.

Beer Olympics 1992 - video

The Beer Olympics
NYC? - 1992

this was a fest that used to be alot more gutterpunk style up on the east coast then somehow turned into basically a skinhead/streetpunk fest down in atlanta. i didn;t watchthis vid, and i'm guessing to where it is. I've never been to one, but some of my friends have and i;ve seen fleyrs over the years, so my info might be off.

No Clue what's on this video, enjoy.

"new" band - the Defectives

the Defectives
Italy - '10?-now

I just found this band, thanks to my stupid friend, who quit doing his own blog (http://inforthe80s.blogspot.com) - after the downfall of free download websites - and made me compelled to make 2 other blogs besides this one (one for uk82 and one for 80s british oi - i barely update any of them and they have less info than this one. i do have a life besides just listening to music, typing ((poorly)) about it and buying it - between booking/attending shows, drinking, part time DJing on the radio, drinking, occasionally DJing shows/clubs, drinking, my girl & my dog, and the worst: work). It looks like they used to be a typical aggressive streetpunk band (unless thats another Defectives) but have had a magical 90's japanese pogo wand waved over them and now they sound and kinda look like Spiky Joys/ Discocks/Pogo Machine/etc. - scarf and everything - or Korean shit like Spiky Joys or the Couch. Or newer pogo punk worship liek te Chernobyl Babies, Oi!Driver, the Erections etc. You get the fuckin idea... check it out if that's your kinda shit. If you are new to this look for the Dick Spikie video on this blog.

Red White & Die - various songs

Red White & Die
Tacoma WA - '00-'11(?)

Well i somehow heard this band in about '01 or '02 and was surprised to have stumbled upon them a few weeks back and see new artwork and songs. I thought they would've been dead years ago (the music not the actual members, although sadly that happens more than you probably think...). Although I'm not exactly dancing around with joy about it, and it goes against my '90-'05 rule, i will put up their music from reverbnation, from their '11 self titled album. If i can find their old shit maybe i will swap it out, either way the music is about the same quality in with the ups and downs just being in different areas. IF the play doesn;t show up, then CLICK THIS LINK to check them out.

Stokey Punx - documentary/short film

Stokey Punx documentary from '95 made by Simon from Suicidal Supermarket Trolleys about the '95 scene in Stoke Newington(?), UK.   -!*CRUST WARNING*!-    Besides lovable gutterpunks SST, this contains some super 90's "punk" and crust... sounds like some guys are high on a variety of H, weed, Special Brew and just got done with an Amebix bender. Not punk done in the way where I will ever allow it to enter my ears again. I only put this up for the SST parts and historical punx funtime. Watch/listen at your own risk.

Tension - "Worst Of" album

Tension
Winsdsor ON, Canada - '97?-99?

Alright this band has a metal punk sound like mid-later career Exploited. All I know is that I used to have 2 cds by them, nobody's ever heard of them and I forgot everything the booklets said except something about a member being in Exloited and a bunch of other bands in the uk and canada. So i will give you the info from this page (Windsor DIY Archives):

"This isn’t exactly a reoccurring story in the Windsor music scene. After playing bass on ‘Beat the Bastards’, the 1996 release by legendary Scottish punk band the Exploited, Jim Gray somehow made his way to our backyard in Leamington Ontario. There, Tension was formed with Lager Lads drummer Rob and this debut CD was soon to follow. Fast paced, unrelenting metallic hardcore punk that isn’t a far cry from Jim’s past projects. A follow up CD and European tours came thereafter, but the boys called it a day after a few short years.

Related: the Lager Lads, Combat 84, Filth, UK Subs, the Exploited.

Here's what i put in the youtube description. I am too lazy to edit this all together right now:
96?-99? Windsor, Onatario, Canada.

http://punxpunks.blogspot.com

This is their best of ("Worst Of"), on Worst records, which I believe was french zine & label that put out international streetpunk bands best(worst)-ofs, and if i remember right, a punks and skins photobook...

Tension had 2 albums (cds?) - "We Hate... Destroy" '97 & "War Cry" '99 - I did't include the artwork from the 2nd one in the video because its even fucking worse than the 1st one's. (see here: http://www.spirit-of-rock.com/les%20goupes/T/Tension/War%20Cry/War%20Cry.jpg). They were on a Worst compilation called "First Punk Rock Shot!". And there's and ex-Exploited guy in the band. That's all I know about em, other than nobody i know has ever heard of them and they almost don't exist on the internet.

I will ost the track listing another time when I'm not so lazy.

Here's more info from "Windsor DIY Archive":
"This isn't exactly a reoccurring story in the Windsor music scene. After playing bass on ‘Beat the Bastards’, the 1996 release by legendary Scottish punk band the Exploited, Jim Gray somehow made his way to our backyard in Leamington Ontario. more "new" bands... Sad Boys & Conniption Fits

Sad Boys
Brooklyn NYC

When they're not doing the noisier end of things on their recordings they are reminiscent of the Rivits or a more pogo-charged Banner of Hope meets some 90's japanese pogo punk. They have a handful of recordings out on vinyl and tape.

Sad Boys - "e.i.a.p.o.s."

Sad Boys - "Frolic" (sounds like 'Mas Problemas' from Ponx Attax, they've played together... i wonder which came first)

Conniption Fits
Seattle WA

the Conniption Fits have a tougher (female) american oi-esque vocal sound with a pogo punk backbeat, and would've fit nicely on GMM records, but can't be pigeonholed to jsut that. I have their songs from reverbnation, and a live video. If the reverbnation shit doesn't show up in your browser then try THIS LINK

"Loose Lips" live '12

this blog/"new bands"/ Ponx Attax & Who Killed Spikey Jacket intro

i didn't give up on this shit, i am just taking a break. i am running out of some material and can't find the smaller local bands i wanted to get my hands on. i still have some tricks up my sleeve too, but i'd rather not put only big name bands that most people already know, and DEFINITELY not "new school" streetpunk from the mid '00s (usually after '02-'03). i hate all that copy of a copy of a copy screamy AGT/Unseen vocals influenced shit. i think it's boring. a lot of the diversity was lost in this subgenre around that time til present and i don't wanna champion that. Every now and then i'll drop a newer band, but meanwhile if you are(n't?) living under a punk rock, then check out these 2 "new" bands who DO SHIT RIGHT and manage to mix humor in with their punxxx pride:

Both of these bands have music out in form of demo MP3s, cassettes and vinyl. Ponx is also on a cd split with the Bad Engrish.

PONX ATTAX - from St. Paul/Minneappolis MN

"Street Punks in the Streets"

"Ponx Vacation"

"I Hate You"

video for "Ponx & DisOiderly" - they have old demo songs possibly still on myspace and youtube, a tape (the best being 'ponx on the bus' with primary songwriter Bjorn telling us "yeah, get on that fucking bus", something they took out later), a spot on the Welcome to Minneapolis comp 7",  and 2 splits with Bad Engrish on CD and 7", and more to come... (Also, i noticed the still image for this video is my girlfriend, ha weird. i'm in there too somewhere... Looks like some of the footage is from the Ponx Attax/the Pist/Defiance show in minneapolis - 2010?)

WHO KILLED SPIKEY JACKET? - from Boston/East coast

ST LP - they also have old demo versions of a few songs that predate this album by years and years, a split tape with the Wankys, and the elusive Watermelon song... also look forward to new material by them

Self Destruct (uk) - live video

Self Destruct
London -?-?

I found this looking for USA's self destruct. It looks like they had a 12" ep. might do some real digging on them later.

Self Destruct (uk) - "Charged" live '90ish

Self Destruct - various songs

Self Destruct
Maine/Boston? - '97?-'07?

A "supergroup" that was half A Global Threat and half of the Unseen. All of these bands have had some incest along the way with singers and memebrs, so that might clear up why you may have thought one soundned like the other at certain times. I don't know that much about them and i hope to throw up their only official recording (that i know of) their '01 "Violent Affair" ep. One could assume the took their name from the GBH song Self Destruct, since they cover GBH and i'd bet my last bag of studs that the band Violent Affair got their name from self destruct's EP. So all in all GBH and uk82 are the fuckin boss, so don't forget it.
Also... according to a guy on youtube with a cat wearing a santa hat for an icon sez: "Mark Unseen was just the second singer. Bryan Lothian was the main singer from 1997 to 2007 when they broke up."

here's some random youtube songs from their EP. i might polish this up later and have the EP plus any rare recordings i can find if youtube doesn't take it down.

"Self Destruction"

"Vicious Cycle"

Street Fleet - song "Won't Back Down"

Street Fleet
southside Chicago - 9x-9x?

Here's an old flyer with notorious Madison WI oi! band (still playing and recording) Brass Tacks, and old Milwaukee streetpunk band Drunk Tank. Quarters is still the best dive in Milwaukee to see a real punk show at, if you can ever fit one in between all the hipster, crust/grind/pv and garage bands.

I read that their 7" "Punktribe" was recorded in '99. It was copyrighted in '00 and released in '02. It can still be purchased here at Interpunk, the great online warehouse of forgotten early '00s bands.

Drunk Upstarts - "Oi! Drunx, Spiky Punx" demo

Drunk Upstarts (Upstarts RF)
Grand Rapids MI - '99-'05

The Drunk Upstarts, later Upstarts RF (upstarts reformed, if i remember right...), from Grand Rapids Michigan, had strong ties with the city of Milwaukee (where i live). Their first(?) singer Jeremy has sadly passed away, but their memory is carried on by his friends, and especially by Jeremy's younger brother Gordy. Gordy fronts the current Denver pogopunk band the Bad Engrish, they cover and have recorded Drunk Upstarts songs as tribute. I will write more about this band when i have the time and can write something more informed, as i don't think i even got to see them ( i used to live in Green Bay WI til about '03/'04), and only met Jeremy 2, maybe 3 times. Either way, RIP Jeremy.

"Oi! Drunx, Spiky Punx" demo '01?
songs:
1. Oi! Drunx, Spiky Punx
2. Andy Cunt
3. Drinking with the Mates
4. Jail Song
5. Street Night
6. Bollox
7. Wastin' Time
8. Wannabe Skinhead
9. Remember When...

Here's Bad Engrish (featuring Jeremy from the Upstarts' younger brother Gordy, on vocals) paying homage to D.U. by covering "Fuck the New Breed", which i think was from the Drunk Upstarts "Gutterside Pisses" demo. If I can remember through all the boozy fog, Bad Engrish cover a few different Upstarts songs in rotation when they play live.

Abalienation - "Booze & Braces" ep & "Punk 'til I Die" song

Abalienation
NYC - '97?-??

I used to have this 7", it was one of those things where the cover is a little misleading. Kinda like those wannabe 86 Mentality hardcore bands today that use skinhead imagery and have no oi influence or skins in the band. Also, what the fuck does the name mean? I am on the internet and i refuse to look it up. Whatever, here it is:

Abaliention - "Booze & Braces" '97 ep

Track listing...
1. No Such Thing
2. Pile of Disillusionment
3. Rejected from Canada
4. Why All the Fuss
5. What the Phuck!!!

song "Punk 'til I Die"

UFC - incomplete Demo/collection

UFC
South Florida/NYC - '99-0x?

UFC aka "United For Change" (supposedly) - don't know much about this band really, so i will steal this off of my friend's old blog - http://skunxcomeback.blogspot.com/. His newer blog is much better, but almost omitted streetpunk entirely (in the spiky hair sense, it's full of 80s european oi and uk82 - primo shit - http://inforthe80s.blogspot.com/).

"... bands from Florida. I gotta tell you, U.F.C. had to be my favorite band when I use to live in Florida. The band came out around '99 and their members were from Miami and Ft. Lauderdale. They were one of the first bands to get punks and skins together, and everytime they played, they played one of the most chaotic shows in South Florida. These street punk kids got signed to Charged Records in 2000 and released their first self-title EP. The band later regrouped in New York where they had a change of members. The band is still active today, and they have released a full length album; 'All That I Despise', and a demo titled 'Quiero Mas Cerveza'. Well, thats all I can tell you about the band. I hope you like it. I had a hard time trying to record the EP onto my computer. Enjoy!"

I am having a problem getting the whole album onto youtube. I will re-upload this once i get it straight.
I don't even know the real name of the fucking full length/"collection". I wanna argue with the other blog quoted above and say that "All That I Despise" was a 7" or cd. Since i've never physically owner anything by this band, who gives a shit, just listen to whats on youtube:

part of their demo(?) "Quiero Mas Cerveza" '0x?

Fleas & Lice - song "Up the Punx"

Fleas & Lice
Netherlands - '93-'0x?

This might be these dirty ass dutch squatters only good song (depending on who you ask). This is one stolen record i don't really miss being "caught" with. This song will still pop into my head sometimes outta nowhere, so all my hate-jokes aside, give it a listen.

"Up the Punx" from "Up the Punx" '96 split ep, split with..... Assrash.

Domestic Outbreak, The End & The Usual Suspects live videos

Views into different places' history at different times, that may or may not be worth watching... probably not.

Domestic Outbreak - texas, no clue what year

The End - "chaos" - Rochester NY, no clue what year

The Usual Suspects - another fucking Jersey band! '97

Poxy - "The Very End" album + "Never Give In" song

Poxy
Seattle WA - '97-'00?

Poxy were an underrated band where u.s. streetpunk meets English Dogs and Broken Bones. This is this metalpunk bands punker album out of their 2. They were also on the comps Punx Unite 2: International Chaos, Abscess Operandi & the 4 way split with contaminated, endless struggle and classic assholes.

Song 1 is from "Punx Unite 2" '00 comp.
Songs 2-9 are from "The Very End" '99 album

1. Never Give In
2. Violate the Innocent, Tempt the Poor
3. Sedated Control
4. The Hopeless
5. Destructive Youth
6. All They Want is War
7. Carry on the Chaos
8. Fuck the Ordinances
9. The Very End

Gobsmakt - "Police State" ep

Gobsmakt
New Zealand - '97?-'98?

A New Zealand band with a skinhead streetpunk sound. This 7" sounds different than their later full length "You Wot!" and these songs were re-recorded for the album. Although every part of me wants to think these guys are English, i'm pretty fuckin sure they're from NZ.

"Police State" '97 ep
1. Gobsmakt
2. Killing Game
3. Police State
4. Animosity

Punkcore - Oi! the Curveball

hey dummies,  here's a little history lesson for ya. before punkcore records ever signed 3rd generation cookie cutter spiky bands, christian shit and "irish-punk" - and even slightly before your heroes rose up, then, died in a pile of hairdye right in front of you - it had a little taste for the oi oi music. here's some samples of the "other" side of punkcore records from the early days.

Battle Cry

Paxton Boys

Oxblood

US Chaos
this is a live version of their '84 "Eye for an eye" single reissued by punkcore, i will sawp this out with the vinl version later

"Bite the Bullet" version from their "Punks, Skins, Herberts & Hooligans" '97 ep

Street Brats - "Short Fused Street Punk" ep

Street Brats
Chicago (northside) IL - '00?-0x?

This is this Chicago melodic punk band's first e.p. on Charged records. After this and their first full length they took a much softer and even more melodic route, and that's where i personally stop listening. They were super popular (not with everybody...) in the Chicago, Milwaukee (WI) and surrounding areas in the early '00s. Not everyone liked them, not only because of their own take on punk, but their direct involvement & affiliation with chicago punk and skinhead gangs rivalries, especifically having members that were part of  controversial Chi-Town 77 Street Punks. And if you lived in the area then you know that everyone has a fuckin opinion on the shit.

"Short Fused Street Punk" '01 ep
1. Anger & Angst
2. I Believe in Nothing
3. War in the City

Nuklear Fishticks & "Texas Bashing vol. 2" comp.

Nuklear Fishsticks
San Antonio TX - '89-today

This band has been around since '89 with the same singer and a million lineup changes. I get a scumfuc "FUCK YOU!" gutterpunk attitude... you be the judge.

"Sucked, Fucked, Used & Abused" from unknown recording

"Boning Your Mom"

they have a live track on "Texas Bashing: the Compilation volume 2"

1. Dixie Waste- Let's Go 0:00 (Houston)

Punk Comic - "Life is Posers"

The Rivits - live video

the Rivits
NYC? - ??-95?

"This was filmed during the first Punk Matinee at Coney Island High back in May of 1995 with The Rivits, The Casualties, Bouncing Souls & Dysfunctional Youth. Note that Kenny from Dysfunctional Youth / The Krays is on guitar, Mark Yoshi who's playing bass was also the original Casualties Bassist and Mark Meggers on Drums who's now the Casualties Drummer since 1995 too."

"Now That you're Gone" live in NYC '95

The Redundants - "Ready for a 40oz. Riot" cassette + bonus tracks

the Redundants
Eugene OR - ??-'96?

A forgotten band with atypical songwriting (compared to casualties & AGT clones). They also had a 7" (you can find some of the songs here) and a cleaner version of "Ode to Joy" on  1998 Punx Unite compilation lp. For some reason the tape is also labelled "I Hate the Redundants", which is the name of their 7" that has totally different songs. Probably some stupid slogan they had on their shirts or buttons too.

"Ready for a 40oz Riot" '96 cassette:
1. Ode to Joy
2. Drunk Schmux
3. My own Way
4. American Dream
5. 40oz. Riot
6. Nazis Out
songs from unknown recording:
7. I Don't Wanna Live
8 . Living in the Sewer

The Despised - song "Alcoholic"

The Despised (aka the Despised N.J.)
NJ - '98?-'99?

Well well, when I went to take the Embed code from this youtube video I noticed a link to a blog in the video description. It looks like this guy had a similar idea to mine (or vice versa), also, he has downloads (including Pepsi Generation and the Krays/Truents split i wanted. prick), so if you're feelin it, check it out: http://pogo-attack.blogspot.com/

Vomiticians were a pogo punk band from Bernardsville, NJ. We existed through 2 great summers in the late 1990's. We disbanded in 2000 and since then 2 of our members have died. The bassist, the fuck i know what happenned to him. But the drummer still is around and put this site up to host some mp3s. Now fuck off!"

"Obese Police" '99

South Central Riot Squad (S.C.R.S.) - song "S.C. Drunx"

South Central Riot Squad
guess where - '02-today?

This song was an unexpected superponx tack on the '04 comp. "Give Em the Boot vol IV" (yeah, i know... it's a miracle it ever made it to my ears). Clit 45/Casualties(and i'm sure Moral Decay) inspired dronx. The song sez it all... a few times

"S.C. Drunx"

Bomb Squadron - various songs and live videos

Bomb Squadron
Reading PA - '94-'98

Bomb Squadron was the band Pepsi Generation in a previous incarnation, and later turned into the Virus.

"From the liner notes: In 1994, five of the quirkiest people ever to form a band played their first show. It was a basement show in a small town 20 minutes north of the band's home in Reading PA, a poor city that died with the 70's. Over the next four years Bomb Squadron played some of the most entertaining, violent and sometimes sloppiest shows I have ever seen.      The first seven inch, <i>"Another Generation Lost"</i>, came out in 1995 to good reviews. The band started playing bigger cities and better shows. The line up at the time was Ian-vocals, Andy-guitar, Chris-guitar, Ben-bass, Jarrod-drums. I seem to remember them fighting a lot, but the shows were always lots of fun. In my opinion Ian was a great frontman and I had never seen a lead singer smoke cigarettes through an entire set until I saw him on stage. He came off like he didn't care about anything (still true), and that is a good thing for the right band, and Bomb Squadron was that band...      After a year or so of playing shows the band ran into problems. Ian's apathy started to clash with Andy's dedication to the band. It came to a head when Ian ditched their first show in Baltimore. A large argument ensued. Andy ended up needing to be restrained from violence, and went on to tell Ian "I know where you live motherfucker". Even though the seven inch was doing great and show offers were rolling in, the band fired Ian and started to look for a new singer.      This brings us to the Fat Dave. He was from Harrisburg PA, a town with as much going on as Reading (nothing). Dave had played in a few bands that Bomb Squadron had played with, and he impressed the band with his antics and presence on stage. After trying out a couple of other singers, the band went with Dave and began playing shows. This is when the band's shows started to resemble bar fights. Mix together Dave's habit of drunken self abuse and the band's popularity with the aggro skinhead set, a lot of the shows started to get out of hand. Three fights and a floor covered in broken forty bottles was a common occurence. When Bomb Squadron was on (slightly drunk) they were great, when they were off (really drunk) they were bad. There were shows where the band did not complete any song they played. One show I remember, Dave and Jarrod decided to drink all day and play an over 21 show that night. They could hardly walk by the time they played. Swinging a mic stand like a baseball bat, Dave destroyed a thousand dollar disco ball and a couple of monitors, Jarrod stopped a song half way through to go to the bathroom, and during the last song Ben stopped playing after the first chorus, put his bass in its case and walked off rolling his eyes. The police were called, Dave fled the scene, and actually beat the charges in court when the main witness against him showed up drunk. That in a nutshell was Bomb Squadron.      The band did a summer tour, put out two more seven inches, a bunch of comp tracks and in 1998 they broke up. This collection is their entire studio history. There were a lot of rumours about this band, none worth mentioning. The only thing Bomb Squadron wanted to do was play streetpunk, the way it should be, raw and fun."

Chaos Days punk fest '95, in Germany. This is a video (in german) comprised of footage of bands, fans, news & various media clips. You don't have to understand german to understand punks building huge fucking barricades, using a BATTERING RAM on a door for some reason and fighting with riot police for what seemed like a couple of days.
